Week 2 December: The Comeback Week

Week 1 of December was ugly. A single bad day—-$3,974 on just 4 trades—put me in a hole. But week 2 told a different story.

The Numbers

DateP/LTrades
Dec 8+$1,097.6821
Dec 9+$298.9818
Dec 10+$1,439.6624
Dec 11+$1,690.9430
Dec 12+$1,232.2019

Week 2 Total: $5,759.46 on 112 trades

That’s an average of $1,152/day and $51.42/trade.

Month-to-Date

WeekP/LTrades
Week 1-$1,030.3868
Week 2+$5,759.46112

December Total: $4,729.08

After being down over $1k, the account is now up almost $5k. The swing from week 1 to week 2: +$6,789.

What Changed

The December 2nd disaster was a sizing and discipline failure. Three contracts on /GC, wrong direction, held too long. One trade: -$2,508.60. That single trade was larger than any of my winning days this month.

Week 2, I went back to basics:

  • Smaller position sizes — Mostly 1-lot trades, occasionally scaling in
  • Faster exits — Average win duration: 2 min 25 sec
  • Short bias — 63% of trades were shorts (114 vs 66 longs)

The Duration Data Still Holds

My win rate by trade duration this month:

DurationWin Rate
Under 15 sec72.7%
15-45 sec81.4%
45 sec - 1 min100%
1-2 min58.1%
2-5 min77.8%
5-10 min30.0%

The pattern is clear: my edge lives in quick trades. The 5-10 minute trades are where the blowups happen. That December 2nd loss? Held for over 10 minutes.

The Lesson

Week 1 was a reminder of what happens when I break my rules. Week 2 was proof that the edge works when I follow them.

Best trade of the month: +$701.40 — Short 3 /GC, in at 4225.7, out at 4223.3. Under 2 minutes.

Worst trade of the month: -$2,508.60 — Long 3 /GC, in at 4260.8, out at 4252.5. Held way too long.

Same instrument. Same size. Completely different outcomes based on execution and discipline.

What’s Next

December is halfway done. If I can maintain the week 2 pace and avoid another week 1 disaster, this could be a $10k+ month.

The rules going forward:

  1. No trades over 5 minutes. If it’s not working, get out.
  2. Respect the loss. One bad trade can erase a week of gains.
  3. Stay in the zone. 15-second to 2-minute trades are where I win.

Five green days in a row. Let’s keep building.
